Become a Mentor

The WGF provides ample opportunities for WGA members to share their knowledge and experience with emerging writers and students in underserved communities.

Members can sign up for a variety of experiences, ranging from one-off speaking engagements and workshops to long-term group mentorship. In addition to hosting several in-house writing programs, WGF partners with like-minded organizations, schools, and universities both locally and globally.

School & University Partnerships

In alignment with our mission to expand educational access for writers everywhere, The Writers Guild Foundation offers several outlets for students of all levels to gain direct insight into the craft, careers, and day-to-day realities of working writers in Hollywood.

From organizing speaking engagements to offering valuable resources like Library tours and paid event discounts, the WGF is proud to offer academic institutions unique opportunities for students and educators to bolster their knowledge of the craft and history of writing for the screen.

Visiting Writers Program

The Visiting Writers Program connects film and television writers with speaking opportunities at schools and universities across the nation. The program aims to provide students with direct insights into the craft, careers, and day-to-day realities of working writers in Hollywood.

Library Tours & Field Trips

Visiting the Los Angeles area? The WGF offers small group tours of the Shavelson-Webb Library and Archive for academic institutions. Students can access our collection of over 45,000 scripts and related materials and learn more about the craft and history of storytelling on the screen.

Event Recordings & Discounts

Students and educators can learn from the best screenwriters in the world through the WGF’s vast library of event recordings available on our YouTube channel. In addition to offering a variety of free events, the WGF offers individual student discounts and group rates on select paid events.

Community Partnerships

The Writers Guild Foundation partners with organizations and groups that share our vision of fostering equitable access to both the craft and the business of screenwriting.

In addition to offering access to hosting collaborative events, private tours of the Shavelson-Webb Library, and cross-promotion in our weekly newsletter, the Foundation also connects WGA members with volunteer opportunities and speaking engagements through our community partners.
